About us
Hi and welcome to Gemstone Guardians! We're so glad you checked out our page! If you clicked this link, you probably wanted to learn a little more about us:
We are a small business originally from Virginia, USA, now based in Germany.
We strive to provide high quality products that are ethically sourced and produced, from self-collected raw rock or recycled stones all the way to a finished jewelry piece. Most of our products are completely handmade!
We know that there is a high demand for crystals and gemstones these days and it's amazing to see how the community has grown around them! Our own love for these sparkly treasures is what lead us to opening this business and we love to share our joy with as many people as possible.
But we are also painfully aware of the unfortunate reality that many crystals on the market today come from less than ideal sources, from flat our fakes or misleading product descriptions, over unfair pricing, to unethical mining practices that exploit and endanger workers in poorer countries, engage in child labor, or damage the environment.
It doesn't have to be this way!
We ensure the quality and integrity of our products by:
- Recycling stones from old jewelry
- Collecting most stones ourselves, thereby giving us, and you, 100% guarantee of their source and authenticity
- Only collecting rocks that were an already discarded byproduct of past mining OR surface rocks that have been naturally relinquished by the earth in legal places
- Not using any tools to extract rocks or crystals we collect ourselves, or collecting them in quantities that could have any impact on the environment
- Only buying directly from other small, private prospectors and rockhounds.
- Polishing all stones in our own rock tumbler
- Handcrafting each piece of jewelry ourselves
- Pricing our products competitively to keep the store alive while striving to make them affordable enough compared to other shops.
One of the greatest joys of working with stones is to hold a fascinating and unique piece of nature in your hands. The least we can do is treat it with respect in return. :)
