Scientific Facts
Jasper is a fine grained quartz with a host of foreign matter. It is formed in the sedimentary manner when the original silicic acid solution penetrates clayey or sandy rock or is itself permeated with a multitude of suspended particles. When the silicic acid solidifies into quartz; the clayey, sandy, or finely distributed particles remain and enclose within the jasper as it forms and give it its opaque color and unique markings. It receives its green coloring from the iron silicate compounds present in the stone. This stone is said to have been formed when fine pyroclastic or volcanic ash became a solid material.

This stone is believed to be a rain bringer and also protects the wearer from evil spirits, venom, and poison. German folklore believed that the stone could pull snake venom out of a snack bite, offering powerful healing abilities and offering many advantages to those that happen to be wearing it.
