Sodalite is a rich royal blue tectosilicate mineral . Although massive sodalite samples are opaque, crystals are usually transparent to translucent. Sodalite is a member of the sodalite group with hauyne, nosean, lazurite and tugtupite.
Moonstone is composed of Orthoclase and Albite, two species from the Feldspar group. Its coloration reaches from colorless, white, through shades of yellow, gray, green, pink, reddish, orange, and brown. It can be anywhere from opaque to clear and has a vitreous luster which can be colorless or include blue hues. Different stones frequently mislabeled as "Moonstone" include Opalite (a man made glass) and Labradorite.
